new members and forums
Hi everyone, its me again. Just a small update for the group, the shepardstown, wv trip is looking promising for a friday afternoon in september, which means yes we will miss starnet for those of you here at Salisbury University but this will be an adventure not to be missed. Maura I still need a schedule from you and a date that is best from all of you. Please get back to me. Also, if you don't make this one never fret because there will be a trip to Salisbury, NC to visit a neat place down there that I have been informed about by pbisnotmyname
. And coffee tip today- when drinking snickerdoodle coffee try a little white sugar, one brown sugar cube and some cinnamon to make an amazing cup of coffee. Ciao!

Lost Dog Cafe!
Alrighty! For those of you out there, I am planning a small trip to WV, Shepardstown to be specific to goto the Lost Dog Cafe for foods and drink! The Lost Dog cafe is supporting the coffee house rev and other things anti-starbucks and have given me a beautiful t-shirt in exchange for one of my coffee house t-shirts from Java. A lovely gesture, and I welcome them to being apart of the revolution. Anyone willing or desiring to go along this small road trip leave me a comment. I am planning this in September so be aware that school will factor into our day of the trip. It will most likely take place on a saturday. And for those members that wish to go but are in the westren shore area, let me know and we can pick you up on the way!

Because of personal reasons our founder Wendylady85 is no more. So now
I was put in charge as the MOD of the resistance. I want some
participation Coffee enthusiast. We need to try and get more people
against StarBucks and into this forum. I think I'll look up Starbucks
on LJ and try to get people to join this group if any public entries
are against StarBucks. Tell your friends and such. We can't let
StarBucks brainwash everyone. Next year, we will
have some activities but for now let us focus on recruitment.

So Bruce Springsteen is putting out a new album. Now most members of this group are probably not too into his music, but it is Springsteen. Guess what? Starbucks will not promote his latest album because it's to "racy". Check out this MSN article.http://music.msn.com/artist/?artist=16074898&affid=100018>1=6472
So I think I will support Bruce by telling those that like him to buy this album (and if I enjoy it maybe I will too).

So I know its getting hot outside, but I am thinking (sometime this June) holding a picnic outdoors complete with Iced Chai and Iced Coffee products for all. It will take place at the beach (in Rehoboth) so bring a swimsuit. Let me know if anyone is interested and I can set up things with my family there. Ciao.

Question about activities
Ok, I know we are not the only people against Starbucks as there is a lot of retaliation against them. I think people just need to know more about this group and have a reason to join. For fun though, I have a question. Obviously, we could not protest or anything on "thier sidewalk" but could we hand pamplets at certain Starucks about other coffee places in the area to give other people options without infringing on any rights? I think we can because we do not work for any said coffee shop or getting any money for doing said activity in front of such a place. It'd be kinda cool to do that if we can get more people. ^.^ I've never been in some kind of "active protest" and I'd like to see if anything might happen.

A new voice in the revolution
I've just joined the group and I plan on being an active member. Few people know the taste of fresh coffee from a "ma and pa" coffee store anymore. Nor do they know the friendly bonds made at such friendly establishments. These people who own these stores are not big smug businessmen and women who just want to get the biggest profit and would, whether intentionally or unintentionally, make coffee and the meaning behind coffee shops artificial and commercial.
Starbucks does not need my money. They are one of the largest chains around which will one day be a monopoly if no one does anything to stop it. I've read articles were Starbucks has pressured coffee stores to close and then opens up like 4 stores in one block. This is all to monopolize the industry so they can give us crappy artificial coffee and make the environment of a coffee place less like a place to relax and meet people and more like a Walmart. Not saying Walmarts are bad but they just aren't nearly as relaxing as a little nice clean store where you can sit and relax and have a nice warm cappuccino while talking to friends or reading a book.

And it went well...
March 15th went well, had plenty of people decide not to taste the crap known as Starbucks. Dad is sending some coffee sometime this week so I might invite people over during the day for some breakfast type thing. No one joined this community yet, but I am still faithful someone will.

Alright, for those of you wondering...no the revolution was not caused by this letter. Two, I started it because I felt there were too many starbucks when there are very nice mom and pop stores around the neighborhood that don't see a lot of business. And three, I love the troops, my brothers were marines. I also have friends in the service in Iraq right now and I support small business. Corporate America is something that prompted me to start the "Coffee House Revolution." So this article: http://www.thedenverchannel.com/technology/4139428/detail.html
is in no way connected nor affliated to this movement. Thank you. ~Wendy~

The Beginning of an Era...
March 15th, 2005. Its our goal here at CHR to support the hole-in-the-wall, mom and pop ran coffee shop. Yes viva la revolution! We are going to not go to a starbucks and encourage people to attend their locally owned and ran establishments for their addiction. Why? Because I am sick and tired of Starbucks buying out these tiny places, killing my favorite coffee houses and watching my favorite small time places go under due to big business. So on March 15th, we are going to attend these small shops and give them a little jump in business. Sometimes these places have the best pastries and if you are in the Towson, MD area and need an idea to which one to attend, just E-mail me. Wendy. I know a lot of these places. They have the best muffins and bagels! Alrighty, well that is all for this. Also, feel free to talk about coffee the difference. I worked as a barista for five years and so any questions can be asked of me on the various coffee drinks or what to order March 15th. Thanks again!
